Ascomments to the question state, in terms of wheel diameter alone, 29" and 700c monikers indicate the same rim diameter.Your bike, being Surly, should be able to fit just about anything in terms of wheel diameters and tire widths, up to 27.5"×3.0" (650C) and 29"×2.6" (700c). Andthe approximate diameters of rims according to the size of such wheels are-. 👉 700C = 622 millimeters = 24.5 inches. It is 650B and is much larger than the 26. FAT 700C tyres are roughly 28 inches but are also called 29-ers. 👉 26-inches = 559 millimeters = 22 inches. It is always observed to be only 26 inches. On700c wheels, maximum tire clearance on frames usually hovers around 40 mm while frames that can take 650b wheels can then accommodate 2.1″ (53mm) or even 2.2″ (56 mm) tires. Knolly gives you options to run up to 700×45 tires or 27.5×2.1″ on its Cache, and still have clearance for fenders. Itcan be a bit of a minefield determining the correct size tubes and tires for bikes and it’s made 10x harder when manufacturers swap between imperial and metric figures. The simple answer is that 700c equals 27.5 inches but, unfortunately, it’s not as simple as that. Buy a 27.5 inch tire and inner tube for your bike and they’ll likely 6Jan 2010. #7. MartinC said: In some parts of the world (e.g. Germany) 700c wheels/tyres are still referred to as 28". It's a historical reference to the approximate size of wheel and tyre. 700c is also a historic name for approx diameter. MartinC said: Basically they refer to road size wheels as 28" and MTB as 26". This27.5”/650B diameter mountain bike tube is compatible with ” wide mountain bike tires. For the most precise fit, choose a tube with the smallest range that still contains your bike tire’s width. For instance, if your bike tire is 2.4”, a tube with a 2.2-2.4” range will offer a better fit and feel than a tube with a 2.4-2.8

TheBSD (Bead Seat Diameter) of a 26er is 559mm. A 650b wheel is 25mm bigger with a BSD of 584mm. As there are 25.4mm in an inch that means a “27.5 inch” wheel is slightly less than an inch
ButI always stand by my opinions and recommendations. The simple answer is this: 700 = 27.5 inches. 45 = 1.77 inches. Unfortunately, this comes with a massive dose of “Be Careful!” because, when it comes to bicycle tires, nothing is ever quite so simple. The better (and still simple) answer is this:
